PKI Academy of Modeling & Simulation

2013 Peter Kiewit Institute Academy of Modeling and Simulation
Monday, July 8, 2013-Thursday, July 11, 2013
The Peter Kiewit Institute is proud to host the PKI Academy of Modeling and Simulation sponsored by SAIC. This Academy gives high school students hands-on exposure to computer modeling and simulation in engineering used by University faculty, industry leaders and sectors of the military. The sessions will enable students to apply modeling and simulation to real life challenges facing us today. Avatars, game-based learning, virtual environments, transportation and weather modules are just some of the specialized areas students will explore. Students will receive hands-on training with using SAIC's OLIVE simulation to create 3-D, interactive, virtual worlds and avatars which can be used in training, and education. Thanks to a generous donation from SAIC, there is no cost for students to attend. Participants must be rising high school seniors (class of 2014) from a Nebraska or western Iowa high school. Selection criterion is based upon academic achievement as well as extracurricular involvement in the community and leadership experience. In addition to an online application, the following documents must be submitted:
