The Peter Kiewit Institute

On behalf of PKI Faculty, Staff and Students, welcome to The Peter Kiewit Institute and the University of Nebraska!  PKI is a university-level institute reporting through the Executive Vice President and Provost to the President of the University.  We are located on the University of Nebraska-Omaha campus in Omaha; an amazing metropolitan city with a regional reach.  We are inspired by our goal to educate and develop our students into leaders of character who will serve the State of Nebraska and the Nation. 

Established in 1997, PKI is a premier 21st century high-technology learning and research institute that is home to approximately 1500 undergraduate and graduate students and 110 faculty from two University of Nebraska colleges: College of Engineering (COE) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL); and the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IS&T) at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO).

Prominently known for multi-disciplinary academics and cutting edge research, PKI is where learning and innovation takes place in and beyond the classroom.  The Institute’s foundation is built on the cornerstones of innovative education, research and technology.  PKI is committed to providing students with an integrated “PKI experience” that develops the whole person through a combination of classroom, laboratory and off-campus internships that give PKI students unparalleled opportunities to learn and discover who they want to be, know and do. 

If you are a new student: Welcome to PKI!  I challenge you to rise to the expectations of your parents, former teachers, coaches, and PKI faculty to make the best of your given talents and work ethic.  PKI has become well known for jump starting great careers in industry, government and academia.  Our graduates have gone on to have great careers.
